Catheterization Lab

At RS Abdi Waluyo, we have 2 Catheterization Laboratories (Cathlab) built with cutting-edge technologies, one of which is the newly installed Hybrid Cathlab. RS Abdi Waluyo Cathlab system provides clear, sharp image quality for consistent high imaging and excellent clinical performance. The Flat Panel Detector allows optimal placement of stents in acute cases where speed and precision are critical.

What do I need to know?

Pre-intervention

1. The patient will undergo a laboratory examination involving complete blood count, urea, creatinine, MP3, GDS, SE, HbSAg, Anti HCV, HIV.
2. The patient should undergo an ECG examination or bring their latest ECG results if available.
3. The patients should undergo a chest X-ray examination or bring their latest chest X-ray results if available.
4. The patient must fast for at least 4-6 hours.
5. An infusion will be placed on the patient’s left hand.
6. The patient must sign an informed consent letter.
7. If the laboratory results are out, the nurse will then report to the doctor in charge.
8. The nurse will shave the patient’s right and left inguinal areas before the procedure.
9. The nurse will bring the patient’s examination results to the cath lab.

Post-intervention

1. You will be admitted to the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) for the first 6 hours after the procedure.
2. The arm/leg used for catheter access (puncture/injection site) must be in a straight position and not bent while in the ICU (6-8 hours).
3. When you are fully awake from sedation, you are allowed to eat and drink.
4. After 6 hours of monitoring in the ICU, you are allowed to move to the treatment room should you experience no symptoms and are allowed by the specialist in charge.
5. During treatment, you are allowed to move around and go to the bathroom alone or with the help of a nurse.
6. Should you have any symptoms/complains, please call the nurse as soon as possible.

At home

1. Please only do light activities on the first and second day after going home (do not walk or squat for too long)
2. Please do not do moderate to strenuous activities in the first week (trekking, jogging, hiking, and lifting heavy weights).
3. Having had procedures that went through the radial (wrist) or brachialis (arm), you are not allowed to lift heavy weights for 1 week.
4. You are allowed to carry out daily activities as usual, 2 weeks after the procedure.
5. Take medicine according to the doctor’s advice and have a follow-up check according to the schedule.
6. Should you have a fever or swelling in your groin or legs, please come to Abdi Waluyo Hospital as soon as possible, or to the nearest hospital or clinic for further evaluation.
7. If you are taking blood-thinning medications that can increase the risk of bleeding (eg. stomach), please make sure you do not skip meals.
8. It is recommended to eat in small portions 5 times a day.
9. If there is a gastric medicine that must be taken according to the doctor’s instructions, do not stop on your own.
