Digital X-Ray

A digital X-ray, or digital radiography, is a modern type of X-ray that utilizes digital sensors instead of photographic film, as with a traditional X-ray. The image captured is converted to digital data immediately and is available for review within seconds. This allows doctors to observe the extent of the damage done during an injury, including bone breaks and fractures, as well as detect masses in soft tissue, which could lead to the discovery of a tumor or other illnesses. The clarity of digital X-rays makes them superior to traditional X-rays in terms of finding tiny fractures.

You will be asked to:

• Take off clothes and wear a hospital gown
• Remove metal objects, such as a belt, jewelry, dentures, and eyeglasses, which could interfere with image results
• Depending on what is examined, you may be instructed to fast for a few hours before the procedure

After the procedure, you can return to normal activities.
