Endoscopy

Endoscopy is a safe, minimally invasive procedure, to look inside your body using an ‘endoscope’, a small thin tube with a small camera inside. It will pass through the body’s natural opening. During the examination, your doctor may also perform biopsies (collect tissue samples for further study). There are different types of endoscopies to evaluate different parts of the body.

Non Surgery:

  • Bronchoscopy : to identify the cause of lung problems, e.g. persistent cough, or an abnormal chest X-Ray.
  • Gastroscopy : to evaluate the upper gastrointestinal tract and find out what is causing the digestive symptoms (e.g. heartburn, difficulty in swallowing, pain when swallowing, indigestion, nausea, and vomiting).
  • Capsule Endoscopy : to evaluate the inner lining of the small intestine – part of the digestive tract that cannot be reached by gastroscopy or colonoscopy.
  • Colonoscopy : to examine the inner lining of the colon and diagnose diseases such as Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) , and colon cancer.
  • Nasoscopy / Nasal endoscopy : to evaluate the nasal and sinus passages and find out the cause of symptoms such as nasal congestion, nosebleeds, loss of ability to smell, recurrent runny nose, etc.

Minimally Invasive Surgery:

    • Arthroscopy : to evaluate and treat/repair joint disorders/injuries involving the knee, shoulder, elbow, wrist, etc.
    • Hysteroscopy: to identify and treat conditions that cause abnormal uterine bleeding, heavy menstrual bleeding, irregular spotting, fertility issues, etc.
    • Ureterorenoscopy: to diagnose and treat kidney and ureteral stones, strictures, and urothelial cancers.
