The Silent Scanner is designed to provide high-quality diagnostic images while creating a more comfortable and relaxing experience for patients. Its wide-bore design provides more space, while advanced noise-reduction technology helps reduce the loud sounds commonly associated with MRI examinations to near-ambient sound levels.
What Do I Need to Know Before an MRI?
MRI uses a strong magnetic field, so certain medical conditions, implants, or objects may affect your eligibility for the examination. Before your scan, our MRI team will ask whether you have any of the following:
- Pregnancy or possible pregnancy
- Pacemaker
- Aneurysm clip
- Implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD)
- Metal implants
- Implanted drug infusion device
- Previous bullet or metal fragment injuries
- Foreign metal objects, especially in or near the eyes
- Dentures or dental work containing magnetic components
- Permanent cosmetics or tattoos
- Medication patches containing metal foil
- Neurostimulator
- Other implants or devices that may be affected by magnetic fields
Always inform the MRI team about any implants, medical devices, or metal objects in your body before the examination.
Items Not Allowed in the MRI Room
Because of the strong magnetic field, the following items must be removed before entering the MRI room:
- Jewelry, watches, credit cards, and hearing aids, which may be damaged or affected by the magnetic field
- Pens, pocketknives, and eyeglasses
- Hairpins, metal hair accessories, underwire bras, and clothing with metal zippers or fasteners
- Mobile phones, electronic watches, and tracking devices
- Body piercings
- Removable dental appliances, such as dentures
